Is this splayed leg? Silkiechick? Anyone?

Here is a pic of one of my GLW chicks- the right leg is fine but the left leg is at an funny angle. It is not quite as pronounced when in the brooder on shavings (the counter top was a bit slick where I took the pic) and it is getting around just fine. Should I be concerned? Should I try doing anything. It is 5 days old.

your pic was too large (photobucket has an easy to use resizer option) for me to view but it might be a slipped tendon... start your bird on a good supplement like AviaCharge ...feel to see if you can feel for it and pop it back in...it is difficult to treat as it will often pop back out. Perhaps go ahead and treat as indicated for splayed leg ...there is a nice photo reportage just posted on that

Looks like it might be. You could try splinting it with a band-aid.

You cut the band-aid lengthwise, and hobble the legs together, the pad acts as a good spacer for the legs. Some people report success with this method. I have tried it on 2 chicks unsuccessfully.
