That looks like a minor version of cross beak (aka scissor beak) sometimes it will correct itself. If the top part of the beak is longer than the bottom, you can trim it so it will not overlap like that. Sometimes the probably corrects itself and sometimes it gets worse.

I know this is a late post to your question, but your first picture (front profile shot) is exactly what our little scissor/ cross beak looked like when she was small. We had no idea this would turn into a huge hawk-like beak deformity later. We are very new to BYC keeping, so we really didn't know anything about this condition or what to look for.

So did you keep this little one? Did she turn out to be a scissor beak/ cross beak?

This website was so instrumental in helping us learn about scissor beak/ cross beak, and how to make life easier for her.
We are still looking for information on trimming. So far we have read here that people use nail files, nail clippers, and dremel tools/ rotating pet filing tools (i.e. 'pedi paws'). We have tried using human nail clippers, and that has helped greatly, but now want to try an rotating pet nail file/ dremel tool. Not sure exactly which brand to choose , which file attachments to use, how to do this...etc.etc. I see there is the option of posting videos ---> I wonder if anyone would be able to record the process so beginners can see how this is done?? Or post pictures?
