Is this the start of a Drake Feather I see?

Well I’m thinking my Barnyard Mix is around 7-8 weeks old.

I was watching it today and I believe I am seeing the start of a Drake feather. Match this with it being the only 1 of my youngins to still be peeping & the green sheen found on its head as well as blue/green wing feathers and I’m thinking I have a Drake.

You are confirming my suspicions. He’s going to have to be rehomed as I just don’t have enough ladies for him and My husband would kill me if I got more ladies just to keep him haha.

He’s got a decent personality to him so I think we won’t have to much trouble finding him a place.

Ugh my husband won’t let me get rid of him as “it’s the only duck that I can catch and hold!” And yet he is also not wanting to get more ducks.

I’m slowly working on him and am needing to get 2 more girls for the proper drake to duck ratio to keep harmony.

Ok, just so you know, I have the most sweet beautiful drake ever. He is just nice, unlike my first one, and yet he is right now in drake jail because he can't control himself and I've got 6 SIX girls for him! I can't let my girl's necks get any more bare of feathers. So, there may be a solution. Make a drake jail and keep them apart until the "urges" stop, hopefully in the fall.

I am curious as well, what ratio do you have? some drakes are overbearing, others more placid.

Appreciate your dh's POV we have a guy like him that literately "eats out of your hand" that said you will have to explain to him how it all works for best flock dynamics and go from there.
