today i introduced my chicks to my hen and after bout a min or so of being together my hen attacked my rir roo chick right on back of neck , i seperated them and my rir chick stared twitching, but after bout 4-5 mins it stopped so i put them with my hen again and then my laying hen started pecking at my chicks feet is this normal?

Also my rir laying hen was more into my rir roo chick he was bigger then my br hen chick, but my laying hen barely bothered my br she was after my rir ws this because of size?

When you introduced them did you just put them together without wire between them? THey need to be introduced very slowly through a protective barrier for at least two week IMO. And they should be about the same size or the smaller one will most likely be picked on badly. I would keep them away from each other or put the smaller ones in a cage inside the coop where they can see them but not be able to hurt them. Good luck!

thank you as i am new do this chicken thing i just learned a big lesson from you when i put them in tomorrow or there daily meeting time i will seperae them with some extra chicken wire, and my chicks are no where near as big as mylaying hen she is gigantic, but do you know if pecking at the feet is normal, and also are chickens beak sharp enough to decapitate other chickens toes?
