I'm so over this weather and short days! I'm ready for warmth and hangin' out outside until 8pm...The only thing that is helping me get thru this crappy weather is my Burpee seed catalog and the anticipation of ordering new chicks in the Spring

I think I'm going to grow some sprouts, just to have some "green" growing in my kitchen

88 more days until April 1st.

That's our "First Day of Spring" because it's not unusual for us to have subzero weather and snowstorms into March.

Sigh. 17 below here last night. With the wind chill, more like 29 below.

-4 here this morning and my stupid hens still cackling 'cause I won't open their pop door and let them out. Trying to conserve what little warmth they have in their coop but I guess they just don't get that! I have one hen in the garage in chicken hospital as the others (5 Isa's) were pecking her head feathers off until she bled. I soo am ready for spring when I can let the girls free-range and burn off their excess energy and reduce this pecking order nonsense. I am going to blu-kote Nellie today and tomorrow I will exchange her for the alpha hen (chicken hospital will become chicken jail) to see if it messes up the pecking order enough that they will leave Nellie alone. But I know I probably wouldn't have this issue if they could just get outside more often and scratch around for bugs! And this is global warming!!

It was - 26 here last night, and that was just the temp, we didn't have a windchill. Right now it is - 16 below, and that is the regular temp. I am so over winter. I am so ready for spring, and summer. However, our spring here isn't until May. Why did I move to MN?
