Hi. I got on to search as to why our Brownie hasn't started laying yet. That I know of. They are usually all over the yard. I started out with 4 chicks back in April. Looked up how to tell what sex they were. Well, found out that we had 3 Roos and 1 pullet. We have rehomed 2 of our Roos, and are left with one. Chocolate and Brownie used to be 2 peas in a pod. Then his hormones started taking over, and he's just a jerk like the other 2 we had, which, incidentally 2 RI Reds and 1 Leghorn. (I read that browns are a hybrid of these 2). I have since put her in the coop, with surround, to try to protect her and also introduced her to our new chicks. She has been great with them btw. She's amazing. And we absolutely love her. But I read that she was supposed to start laying at about 120-130 days. Is this not the case? I figured we would start getting eggs by now. I figured at about 5 months, most hens start laying. But she hasn't yet, as far as I know. I've searched, where they usually hung out, but never found anything. Before I started writing this, I read on another post that is years old, that it could be from stress. And moving her from free range to coop and covered surround. I have a bigger coop coming in a couple of months. Better quality too. I read months ago, that hens should be on 16% layer. But reading on here today, other people are saying different. I'm using the Dumour 16% layer feed. If someone has a better idea, as to what I should feed the girls, please, anything helps. =)
And they are right about how lovey dovey these Browns are.
Put her in the coop not just for protection from the Roo, but the fox that comes about every couple of weeks, and to try to keep track or see if she is laying. She was sleeping in the nest box, until I put a ceramic egg in there. Now she won't even go near the nesting box, she would rather sleep on the roosting bar. Can I put an emoji of throwing my hands up?! Lol.

Sounds like she is too frightened to lay. Fear of predators or even being bullied by other flock mates will prevent them from laying. You might post this question in our Egglaying forums for more help with this... https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/chicken-behaviors-and-egglaying.18/

You want her sleeping on the roost.
I would put everyone on Flock Raiser or All Flock and be done with it. She's old enough to put out containers of oyster shell to support her when she does start laying.
