Isa Brown not laying

I love how people give general chicken advise with out looking or knowing the breed. Isa Brown are hybrid birds bred to lay EVERY DAY, til they slow down , and die . Their life span is less then 2 years .

Your girl is starting to be done laying , id highly recommend not buying hybrid birds next time. It is heart breaking watching them still lay eggs at the expense of their own health ,

Other layers , lay eggs every second day or so but they’re much healthier and live and lay for many years .....
I know that hybrids lay everyday but not as they get older which she is. As stated above the also run into more issues which could cause them to stop laying. I was trying to give advice so she could figure out which one was done. Not sure why you felt the rudeness was necessary towards me :confused:Your post was good otherwise :thumbsup

You said they are only 15 weeks old? I would do the event and pelvic point check to. It may be she’s not just ready yet. I have two ISA Browns. 21 weeks and haven’t started laying yet. If everything checks out good it may just be she’s not ready yet

~They are 15 months old and AM layers, they started laying Sept 2017

Giving the facts isn’t being rude, I too am just giving advise from experience with the breed she is asking about .Im sorry if you thought I was being harsh but general statements are useless for a specific breed.

Calling me out was unnecessary. You could have given the facts without that. But we can agree to disagree. Not every breed is going to fit the standard. Just because it’s a hybrid doesn’t mean it’s going to lay everyday. Just like not every Orpington goes broody and not every barred rock is friendly. I won’t argue anymore about it though. I’m glad you were able to give her more information on the topic.

Ok, a hybrid is a hybrid it is almost a machine . They do exactly what they should , don’t go broody and lay everyday for about a year. They are a very predictable breed because men made them that way , if you stop and think about it it makes gmo food look normal compared to what mankind has done to animals ...

I was understanding Isa Browns lay regularly up to 2 - 2 1/2 years? (Missing days during molting and few days here and there) She is 15 months old. Her comb has gone pale and shrunk up. I have only been getting 3 eggs for about 2 months. I did check her vent and it is moist and appears healthy. Measuring her pelvic area is average with the other layers. Though I expect it to be, it wouldn't shrink back right..can't find any data on that.

I am going to try to post some pictures of her comb. I have a new computer and have never loaded any pictures yet. Wish me luck ha ha

Here is a picture of her comb. The 1st is her and the 2nd is another Isa. It doesn't look "that" pale in the picture but IRL it is. Also ---- She is not molting----The rooster liked her very well this past winter and tore her back up. It actually looks a lot better. The rooster is now gone.
