ISA-Brown page. :)))))))

When they start to lay what should I expect? I have golf balls in the nesting boxes so do you think they would lay in there? Also do the first eggs tend to be really small? Or double yolkers?
When the pullets start to lay usually the eggs are small at first but it is possible to get a double yolk. As they continue to lay the eggs will get larger.

Also do they show much sign when they are about to lay ( squatting, being vocal)?

Do they only squat for a rooster or when you are petting them or do they squat without being touched?

They will squat for both. Just put you hand over their back like in the picture and when they are about to start laying they will squat. You do not have to touch them.

What color eggs do your isa hens usually lay?(dark, medium, or light brown?) and could someone post a picture of the eggs? I am expecting one of my isa pullets to start laying soon! She's 17 weeks 5 days old and has :Dbeen squatting for a week or two, has a red comb and wattles, and I can fit almost tree fingers between her pelvic bones!(I'm not sure if that's accurate though... Can someone confirm it?) I'm so excited by the thought that we'll be getting fresh eggs!:D

Hi,one of my 16 week old ISA browns is being VERY chatty today. It almost sounds like an egg song but not with the really loud ending. When she does a few bocks she ends it with a low long "boooooock". Her combs and wattles and red and large. Is this a sign she might start laying soon?

She is likely getting ready to start laying. She is probably practicing her egg song or if you have other layers she may be singing a cheerleader song cheering them on.
