2 weeks ago we decided to "thin the herd" so to speak.. and find homes for our younger Birds or any that really didn't "fit in" well, so we could then get some Marans or Wellsummers...

Anyway-- they young Man came to pick up 10 hens and 2 Roo's... then hands me a box....
Inside were 20 ISA Brown Chicks (He works For Tractor Supply, and they had to get rid of the older pullets)

ANYWAY... I had just bought 6 of my 1st "meaties".. cornish Cross chicks-- so I tossed the ISA's in with them... PLENTY of space...

BUT: What abou the food issue? If I have to "Ration" the Cornish's feed, what about the ISA's...will they be ok with that???

Thanks!

what food do you plan on feeding the cornish cross?
we had ISA browns and cornish crosses the cornish are not the most pleasent bird we called them the blobs haha. we had them seperated in the coop by a chain link fence.
The ISA brown will need their own feed layers/growers/chick starter depending on the age so you prob have to seperate them

btw the cornish will need a high protein feed

i hope that was helpful to you!

By ration do you mean 12 on 12 off? I would think that the ISAs should be fine with that. I've usually kept the meaties on meat maker and the ISAs on medicated chick starter. After six weeks the isa's will be like midgets compared to the meaties and if you need to set up a seperate feeder it will be fairly easy because you will be able to easily rig a cover over it with holes small enough that the meaties wouldn't be able to get in anyway.
