I have 3 ISA Browns. Seems like once every week or so I find a huge egg. Size comparison....When I shut the lid on one of the 1/2 dozen egg cartons, it will hardly close. And these eggs have two yolks. Is this common? I don't mind cause they are great tasting. But just curious if something is wrong? The egg is odd-looking, like it has a slight ripple in the shell. Thanks for your opinions.

Because ISA Browns are a form of a sex-link, they are breed for egg laying. I would think it to be normal for them to lay an occasional double-yoker. How old are the hens? Because that could make a difference as well. The only concern I would have is an egg-bound hen, where the egg is too large for the hen to pass. So just watch out for uncomfortable hens, a drop in production, ect.

Hi,, I am new to this,, I have 16 layers,, 3 Isa Browns and 2 Black Sex Links and Amaracaunas.. and bantams , Silkies,, and one very happy Rooster.. they are just starting to Lay.. 5 eggs a day.. but the eggs are small,, I guess it is because they are Young??

They have been laying for about 1.5 months. They are consistent layers. Just weird that the one has a larger than normal egg every week or two. I haven't noticed any hens walking funny. hoping that they'll end up staying normal. Lol

The eggs are most likely small because they are young, like you guessed.
@Jay, they should be fine. Enjoy the double-yokers while they come!

HI,, I am up in Canada, manitoba,, so my Birds will be 5months old now,, and getting ready for the cold weather in the near future,, Do young birds usually have double yolks or just when ever?
