ISA Browns Order Them Now

No, it's not. Remember: sometimes March is just as cold as it is right now. Gotta love MI.

Even in "normal" weather years though, I have had chicks shipped this early without issue.

I LOVE my Isa Browns from Townline. I only live 15 miles from Zeeland so no shipping required. Woohoo-- spring might be coming soon and then I'll pick up some more.

How's the temperment of the ISA browns? I have some golden comets I got from TSC and they're really cool birds. Very inquisitive and not the least bit flighty. I've heard that the sex-links are basically the same but I thought I'd ask.

Thanks!

The Institute for Science(selection) of Animals developed the strain in France. They have patented the technology, if you will.
This is now a large company group-consortium of DeKalb,Hendrix and others, you can google the company and have lots of reading.

The provide parent stock for hatcheries around the world.

Their selective breeding programs and improved genetics continues. Most, BUT NOT ALL, the sex links and production strains of commercial birds come from the breeding programs of these poultry genetics companies.

The I.S.A. is a licensed, patented line. Townline is the for sure, an approved hatchery. Others who claim they are? It is unknown.

Bottom line? the ISA is one awesome layer and has a fine personality and outstanding feed conversion ratio.

Thank you for the info. How do these egg factories do in more of a free range/back yard flock situation? Do they have sense enough to come in out of the rain? Regards, Woody
