Has anyone ever heard of a rumpless Isbar? The little girl in the middle below is 8 weeks old and has never had a single tail feather. I was planning on doing some local breeding and now I'm not sure I can breed her. The other four look normal. I know there isn't a "breed standard" per say, but I thought tails were kind of important! Thoughts on what could have happened? Should I still breed her since there isn't a SOP to be held to?

would be so nice if they were Autosexing right?

Going to work on that using your plan as soon as I can free up some coops. Right now all those Cemani chicks I hatched this winter are hogging all the coops. My poor Isbars have to share. They are not happy about that and let me know it.

They must get their lovely green eggs from some Araucana in their blood line. That is how I would assume you got a rumples Isbar. It is expressing a recessive Araucana gene.

That was my suspicion as well.

I had someone mention to me that he thought other breeds had been bred into them so it could be a possibility that it happened at some point in the chain. Is there anything in the Isbar that could carry the rumpless gene? If my roos are not, what are the odds of chicks coming out with the rumpless gene?
