Isn't It Too Early For Eggs?

Guineas lay in the best places. Some like to lay right by our chicken tractors....Thank you ladies that is a great place. Some like to lay in dangerous places where goat kids jump up and down. Really right by their fence line And then the duck friends like to lay where the ducks are supposed to lay AND THe ducks like to scatter their eggs....But favorite under thistle and poison ivy and of course, under the arbors for the bean vines, like they remember last year when these arbors were covered and they are camping out their spot. We mark the first eggs and then scoop with a leather glove, making sure it is an old one when we collect...Why every day has a little bit of easter egg mentality. Thanks for the happy hunting guineas. Oh and I learned that guinea eggs are one of the eggs good for my arthritis, I can eat duck, goose and guinea. chicken eggs are supposed to be bad for it, so I'm stashing away about 200 eggs soon to make it through the year!!!!

Well I can see 4little peeps in the bator window there still wet but looks like royal purples or bronzes for my first hatch see black brown squiggly lines and whitish base color will post pics tomorrow when dry don't suppose there's a color difference in rp and bronze ? I'm not aware or is there peeps?

I have never seen any difference in my RP and Bronze keets at hatch (the usually just develop the Bronze tint after 6 months old or so and look like RPs until then)... but maybe since your Bronzes are SO Bronzey you will be able to see some color difference in your keets. Congrats on your hatch in progress, can't wait to see pics!

I only have 2 hens and have only found one nest so far. When I went to collect the egg last night there was a turtle in the nest! I tossed him OUT, hope he stays out.....lol So far I have 3 eggs. How long can I collect before I need to incubate?

Quote: Nice, hope you have a great hatch, and find out where your other sneaky Hens are laying.

Were the eggs from your neighbor NPIP certified? In CA I'm pretty sure all eggs, chicks/keets/poults etc and adult birds brought in have to be from certified flocks. I know each State has it's own set of poultry laws tho...

Was it trying to eat eggs, or share the nest?
