ISO Black australorp rooster northern WI

Hello everyone! I have a flock of 16 beautiful black australrop hens, I was hoping to find a black australorp rooster or two to help watch over the flock while they graze our yard. We are in the upper north woods of wisconsin. Can anyone help?

Hi and welcome to BYC. In my experience, an alpha hen is equally effective as a warning system as a cockbird.

I have heard that also, I would like a rooster around to also help with upping our egg production and hopefully hatching a few chicks our selves as time goes on

If you want to hatch chicks, a rooster would be a great addition to your flock. Rooster often warn hens of danger, and would only lower egg production if they caused stress. One rooster would not likely cause stress.

If you're from northern WI, check the MN thread also. Surviving Minnesota I think it's called.

Also, consider the Duluth Craig's list. A wanted ad in the farm and garden section might get a response. I see lots of northern WI posts on there.
