ISO Feathers

Good idea!  I spy at least a few in there that are illegal to sell.

I have some turkey feathers--but they wouldn't work well for you.  I've got some young Phoenix and Kraienkoppe--I'll look you up when they start dropping pretty feathers.

Thank you Popsicle! Looking forward to it. :) Yeah, a 2000 fine per feather is not what I want. Kind of sucks because certain pheasants like the monal, most tragopans, and the great argus are domestically raised, but illegal to use.

I have a few but I also have ordered colored ones from the UK. They haven't come yet. I really like the ostrich plumes and peacock feathers! I had to order those, too. A friend here on the shore gave me some golden pheasant feathers that are nice. I put a few rooster hackle feathers on a bow and I was pleased. I just started making hair bows this year thinking of my granddaughters and as an easy way for my daughter to fix her oldest (6 yr daughter) daughter's hair for school. Then after I started I liked doing it so much I am making quite a few. Even decided to take some to the farm swap Sat to sell when i take my chicks. The bows have chickens on them! LOL!

Hey, you're hijacking my thread! :p Sorry about your eBay mix up and thanks for the offer. I actually don't use golden pheasant neck feathers. I guess they are too geometric for what I do. I still have some that I have not used. Thanks again!

do you use guinea feathers?

I definitely use guinea feathers. I love the patterns on them.

Excuse me. I thought I was offering you the feathers you might be searching for. In my last post were the pheasant feathers I had tooooo many of and giving you first choice. I hadn't even thought of splitting them before reading your ISO post and the link just shows what they look like. Using that pic straight out would be copyright infringement. The auction isn't mine.
TY for letting me know. I will leave your conversation and make another. Maybe someone else needs free chicken feathers and be interested in splitting the pheasant feathers with me.
Again, my apologies.

:D I was just playing about the thread hijacking. Sorry you took me seriously. Please don't be upset. When your chickens molt, do you want to do a trade for peacock feathers? I have quite a few of them.

Sorry...I wasn't sure how to take it and thought perhaps you might be serious. I am a person that enjoys "carrying on" with people but you never know what the other person is thinking! So....joke away! LOL!
Tell me what you are interested in concerning types and colors of feathers. I get a lot of fluffy down feathers from my 2 Silkies...a black and a blue as well as the several colors of other chickens.

Yeah, it is hard to hear a person's tone when you are reading it!

I use mainly rooster saddle and cape feathers used for fly fishing. I occasionally use hen feathers for accents, but they are not my first choice since they don't keep their shape as well as rooster or pheasant feathers. I don't use down feathers because they are too fluffy and they don't age well. :)

HA!!! I thought those feathers in your avatar were for your hair!
Now I have a better idea of what will work. My husband does some fly-tying when he has time.
