ISO hatchery w/ Easter Eggers and Isa Browns

My wife and I want to work on responsibility with our younger children. We're hoping friendly hens and colorful eggs will keep them interested in caring for chickens. From my research these two breeds are friendly and good layers. Is that correct? Does anyone know a hatchery that sells both breeds?
We're new to chickens, if it matters we're in Southern Utah/Las Vegas area

Try Mt. Healthy Hatchery! I've gotten plenty of the EEs from there! They are now carrying the Isa Browns as of 2020. They have good chick prices, though I don't know on shipping. Check around at your local farm stores. A lot of farm stores and feed stores sell their chicks. If you can find the chicks at a local farm or feed store, you won't have to worry about shipping.

Yup, both those breeds are friendly and good layers. ISAs are red sex links, which are sold under a lot a different names. Golden Comet, Red Star, Cinnamon Queen, Golden Buff, and ISA Brown are all the same breed. Easter Eggers are often sold under the name Americana or Ameraucana. Most hatcheries have both breeds, but they use different names from each other.

There are more but those are the ones I know of.

Red Sex Links are very prone to reproductive problems due to the amount of eggs they lay, but that can be avoided with proper care. They must have a feed with 18% protein minimum, and supplemental calcium on the side. Treats like scratch, mealworms or table scraps must not exceed 10% of their diet. That is super important to keeping them healthy. They more treats they eat, the less feed they eat, and they need their balanced feed to stay healthy while producing all those eggs.

I like my 16% layer feed, but it's not working for my current flock. They kept eating each other's feathers and people over here on BYC suggested a higher protein grain. So I started giving my flock the Egg Production+ because it had the highest protein level that I could find. It has helped a lot. I want to switch back to the 16% because it's cheaper, but I'm currently keeping with the other for their health and their feathers.

I've heard good things about Mt. Healthy Hatchery, or at least about their EEs. Never cared enough about ISA browns to really research them. There EEs are supposed to have gorgeous beards/muffs and lay pretty blue/green eggs. I plan to order some from there in the spring.

Privett in NM is the closest hatchery to you. If you only need 6 pullets, you are better off just buying them locally when your feed store gets chicks in. Most start carrying chicks in March. If this is an exercise for the kids, allow them to pick their own chick. Expand your selection so every bird looks different. Tons of beautiful birds to choose from.
