We just had some visitors here for a few days and the birds were quite engaging. I have been reading and reading and READING about pea fowl and am considering getting a few for our farm. Anyone familiar with pea fowl in Northern Illinois/Southern Wisconsin?

I have been raising peafowl in Southern Wisconsin for over 20 years. They are really easy to keep and quite hardy. Mine choose to sleep outside in the winter even though they have a shed they could go into. Just make sure you keep the India blues or its mutations. The greens are much more temperamental and require heated indoor quarters when the temps drop below freezing. Hope this helps!

. I cant imagine having to keep Greens warm and applaud those who are willing to raise them in cold environments. I agree with nevsma IB's are heartier and much more forgiving when compared to Greens and IBs are a great introduction to the great world of peafowl.

Hi my turkey breeder has pea fowl coming if her egg hatch. I was considering adding in time to my own flock. But don't really know how to take care of them yet. Food to shelter lighting is there a special pen.
