I sympathize! I am in the SW Ohio area and had the same problem. If you are willing to pay a fortune for shipping Murray MacMurray hatchery sells 4 week and older pullets.

I used to get my adult birds from a local educational working farm. You know the kind of place with day camps and field trips? At the end of the season they had always hatched more chicks than they could keep, so they sold the pullets. If there is something like that nearby, give them a call.

I didn't want to spend much for shipping. And sadly, my farmer source decided to retire and closed the farm this year. So I gave up and bought baby chicks from a local hobby farm/ breeder. I wish you luck!
