I am located in Southern NH and am looking to add two speckled sussex chickens to my flock of 6.
I really don't want day old chicks, but would like pullets or even year old chickens.
Does anyone have any that they'd like to re-home or sell?
Thanks in advance - Kim

Hi Kim, go to the Breeders directory at the national Club webpage; American Sussex Association.
that will list all the Breeders by State.
this is a good time of year to start to look for started pullets. you're really smart to want to go ahead and get started pullets instead of chicks. th
people don't usually cull for Quality in speckled Sussex until they are at least 12 weeks old because it's a tricolor breed and it's very hard to see what kind of quality you're going to have in the plumage before 12 weeks old. so that's what I would do . if you want to, you might even consider shipping some in from another State.
can't be that expensive and it's a lot cheaper than raising them yourself. Because Sussex production qualities are so closely aligned with their breed type, it pays to get good quality if you want them to produce the way that you have read the breed historically produces.
good success with your search!
Karen

Often a breeder will want to spread their flock around a bit in other peoples backyards . this way if they have a predator disaster or something they haven't lost their gene pool. they can go back to the other person and say "hey can give me a dozen eggs or chicks or something?"
Best

I am also in Southern New Hampshire and looking for Speckled Sussex pullets. I would be happy to split a shipment with you if one of us can find them.

I don't know if Leela Olson has any left. she's up in your part of the country. she's President of the American Sussex Association
you can find her contact info in the Breeders Directory at the Club web page.. that might be a good place to look. this is the right time of the year to get started pullets.
people are downsizing their flocks for overwintering and there should be some very nice pullets available. if anybody knows who's got them, it would be Leela Olsen.
Best ,
Karen
