Hello, I am a widow living alone left with quite a bit of time on my hands. I raised a nestling cardinal that wild game gave a zero percent survival rate and never contacted me again. He grew into a beautiful male...Filling my home with song and a wonderful companion. He whistled like my parrot and I think he thought he was human, lol. I had him 9 years when he developed a tumor that ended his precious life. That was three years ago and now I would love to share my home with another young bird that is relatively tame. I still have all my bird supplies and a large flight cage. I have years of knowledge and experience with birds. Please contact me if you have a young hand reared bird to rehome. Thank you.

Hello Ann, I just read your post and that is so cool. I love cardinals and they are always in my back yard. I have feeders out and I'm constantly feeding all of the birds. I have adult and babies coming down now. I just posted that I now have a parakeet that showed up about a week ago and I am looking for advice on what to do with it. Its gets cold here in MA so I know it won't make it this Fall and Winter. Please see my post for further information, if you want. Maybe you have some comments or suggestions you can give me since you've raised birds. Thanks, Sue

If only you could lure it to where it could be captured and re-homed or kept? Otherwise, all I can think up is a warm nesting box for Winter, placed near this parakeets spot. I had a green one visit my feeder in the dead of Winter, eating beside sparrows. I hope something works out.

If you wanted starlings you could of came here and collected them out from under my roof in my walls etc lol they are a pest

Starlings are absolutley wonderful pets! I'd contact a wildlife rehabilitation center near you, as they are legal to own and it would help the rehab out if they could hand off some starlings to you!

I'd be careful, though, any bird other than a starling, house sparrow, or pigeon is illegal to own in most states, and the rest should probably go to a wildlife rehabber liscensed to take care of the native species:)
