Isolating and lethargic hen

She's still super lethargic and is kind of dead weight in my arms. Her stools aren't as watery but still not a "normal" poop. I'm bringing her to the vet on Wednesday - it's all they have available. :(

Hey just an update ... took Maisie to the vet. No worms. He said she’s malnourished and it appears it’s a congenital issue. He’s got her on antibiotics but if she doesn’t get better he said she may have to be put down. ☹️

I'm glad you were able to see the vet.
Did they give you any suggestions about what to feed her to get her back into condition?

What were you feeding her, including treats?

Thank you. Ironically she is eating which makes the vet really scratch his head. She just moved to eating the Dumor Poultry 15%grower and finisher. Previously she was on the starter and grower. Treats were meal worm treats and the occasional cooked carrot, cucumbers and tomatoes. He said to continue giving her the grain and she is eating it actively. She can’t stand at all so I’m giving her water and meds through a syringe.

Personally I would put her on chick starter or an all flock type feed that is 18-20% protein. 15% is quite low even for adults (again my opinion).
What do you mean by the vet saying continue giving her grain - are you giving scratch?
Doe she have grit available?

I'm sorry she is not doing well, with her not being able to stand it sound like she may have a disease like Marek's. http://www.backyardchickens.com/a/the-great-big-giant-mareks-disease-faq
If you happen to lose her, work with your vet or contact your state lab and make arrangement to have a necropsy. https://www.nj.gov/agriculture/divisions/ah/

So sorry I have goats and must have them on my mind. I totally meant feed. I’ve had a family emergency the last couple of days and with my sick Maisie on top of it ... my head isn’t on quite right. I am going to put her back on 24%. Marek's seems very possible ... the vet wants me to call him on Monday. He is an avian vet. I know if it’s a virus antibiotics won’t help. She’s been isolated for a week, but I’m also concerned as to what to do with the rest of my flock.

24% chick starter? Do you have a photo of the bag? Too much protein can also cause some problems, so look at chick starter formulated for chickens - those are usually around 18-20%. Game (quail/pheasant, etc) and Turkey starters are usually the higher protein.

As for the rest of your flock - fresh feed, fresh water, clean up any excess poop and keep stress levels to a minimum. Even with a disease like Marek's not all birds will show symptoms, it's hard to know what is going on with your girl, so hopefully the vet can give you more information when you get back test results.
