Hello everyone, hope everyone is doing well. I am a little stressed and worried, the reason is one of my chicks and I am still learning the type it is has feathers on her feet (I'll show a pic later on not home right now). I notice that it is hot here 104 but I see her always drinking water a barely pecks food and goes back to drinking water. I brought her in with the family one night to see since she was sleeping alone, but then started to worry that I bought a ill chick in the house and I might catch something really bad like the bird flu or parasites.

She sleeps with her brother and sisters sometimes. She always pants more than the rest. She makes some noise like if I pet her feathers gently.

I'm just feeling this isn't working out and I'm doing a terrible job.

I give grains, fruit and veggies LOTS of veggies. I put some collidal silver in the water at times then started to add water with coconut water on top with a few pieces of ice.

I monitor the best I can. When I go at night, the chicks here and run out and she is the last one sometimes idk. She doesn't get bullied but pecked at if she stands close to the other chicks eating and the young chick rooster. Thank you for reading and hope to learn some things and a peace of mind with my begining status.

Also I start to give them scratch for chicks and regular corn type. They don't eat that unless they are super hungry if I'm not there. They just wait for the homemade stuff which I am happy to do. But seeing that one not eat as much and just drink water. It's just idk making me feel anxious and wonder what is wrong with her.

What is the grain?

Chicks should only be on chick starter solely. When they get to be around a month or older, a little bit of something else can be introduced as long as they are provided grit. A better treat for them is scrambled eggs.

You can't get bird flu, and if you think your birds have mites or parasites, you can treat that. Permethrin powder is what most use.

Do you have some Nutra-Drench or Poultry Cell, as I think vitamins in their water would help too, especially if they have mites as they're being drained from them.

If you're in hot weather, ATM, do not give any corn as this heats their body up and won't help the situation. I agree totally with Debbie292d. You don't state how old your chicks are or what or where your chicks are kept. That would help us assess the situation as well. If she's behaving differently to the others and no cause can be ascertained, then she might have an internal issue. Sorry. Not trying to scare you. A little more information would help. Are her wattles, if she has any, a lighter colour than the others?

Thank you, they are 2 months old.

I would feed them the chick organic scratch feed from tractor supply

I'll have to check and update with a pic. Thank you all for the post. I pray she is okay tomorrow morning.

Chick starter doesn't have the word "scratch" in it, so I hope you're meaning organic chick starter. If they're getting the Nature's Best Organic Poultry Scratch, or any brand scratch, organic or not, that's not good at all for baby chicks to live on. We just want your chicks to be healthy as when they don't get the nutrients they need, they can become weak and sick.

That's the one I bought for them. Thank you I will also get the liquid vitamins. And tomorrow I'll take a pic of the chick. I have been giving them all fresh coconut water mixed with water itself. I put a drop or two of collidal silver to see if the infection she has stays or doesn't have an infection just really dehydrated? She pants more than the rest as well.

That is great!

At first how you worded what they get, I thought it was bird seed and vegetables.

I know some use colloidal silver and say it's useful for many things, but I haven't, so I can't speak to it.

For dehydration, I'd try electrolytes, which some say makes them drink more. The Hydro-Hen we use has both electrolytes and probiotics in it, so it is dual purpose. You could try cold watermelon, cantaloupe, cucumbers, etc. as they are all full of moisture. Be sure to provide grit though so they don't get crop issues. For any age chick, it's a treat to them to have mash, which is just their crumbles made wet. That hydrates them too.

Well no, I want them to big strong and healthy and of course make sure their eggs are as nutrious as possible :)

I forgot to take a pic hopefully tomorrow I won't forget, she seems way better today so there was something bothering her. Collidal Silver is truly amazing. I remember my mom having a serve eye infection and she took antibiotics but it didn't get there fast enough for relief. I start spraying it in her eye and on the outer lid. In a day or two she left way better.

I also sprayed down the ground for it to be colder and more relaxing for them. Have some nice melons in the freezer to give them tomorrow and cold veggies as well.

I do have a question, it's werid but I do have a overactive mind and I'm still learning things. Is it possible for chickens to give you any parasite?

Today I was chasing this aggressive rooster to sell. When I tried to grab him his wings smacked my eye. I started to think if a worm was in there and now hit my eye or something.

I washed my eye for a good 5 minutes after grabbing him and giving him to the neighbour who would buy the rooster.

I'm not trolling... I'm really serious here. Thak you.
