It’s me! Hi! I’m a newbie here, that’s me!

Just introducing myself. I’m a PNW chicken tender. My mom has had chickens for over 5 years now. I got chickens March of 2022. 1 Roo and 6 hens. December 10th a dog killed 4 of my hens. Leaving me with my Roo and one hen. Just ordered my new chicks for this coming spring to “rebuild” my flock and I’m so excited I could cry. (Fence is being raised another 6 feet for protection)
Welcome to BYC!!

Glad to meet you, Nikki, and welcome to BYC. I am so sorry about that dog! :hugs What a terrible thing. But good for you for picking up and making things better!

In case it helps you plan for this spring, here is an article about introducing young chicks to an existing flock.

To look for articles on your own:

A. Use the SEARCH button, but use the Advanced Search choice, and select ARTICLES at the top of the box. Just enter your keyword(s) and scroll through your results!

B. I find it helpful to notice the rating and reviews. All articles are by BYC members, and all the reviews/ratings are as well. The ratings help a newbie like me sort the most useful and reliable articles.

C. You can bookmark the articles or posts you think you want to refer to again using that bookmark icon at the top of articles or posts. You can find them again by clicking on your own avatar and looking at the list of bookmarks you have built up!

Hey! I'm new here too! Sorry to hear about your chickens, what breeds are coming this spring?
I’m getting a Buff Brahma, a blue Cochin, a frizzle easter egger, and a fibro easter egger from a hatchery I got my first flock from. And then because they weren’t available until late July, I’m going to get two polishes and possibly a Guinea keet from the local feed store before the hatchery batch comes. I’m going to have a busy spring 😅😅
