(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? — I’m very new to Chickens. Purchased my baby chicks in June/2021, the same Month we purchased our 11acre retirement property!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? — I have #16 right now, with #7 more coming Sept. 1st!!
(3) What breeds do you have? — Jubilee Orpingtons, Salmon Faverolles, Bantam Cochin Frizzles, and Silkies.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? — It’s been my dream for quite awhile now to retire on some land and to have farm animals to enjoy caring for. Of course, Chickens are the 1st thing everyone thinks of when you think of a small Hobby Farm! They’re perfect! I’m already enjoying their individual personalities and their company. Soon, I’m looking forward to enjoying the Fresh Eggs too!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? — I enjoy spending time with my Husband of 25yrs, and with my Six indoor cats, reading books, drinking tea, and watching movies…
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. — Well, my Hubs is a retired Carpenter, so he’s handy to have around. I’m retired as well; I’m only 50 tho!! Lol..!! (I had to retire early due to a medical condition) I was a NICU nurse for several years. I really miss it; but I do enjoy spending my time at home now that we’ve purchased this farm. It definitely keeps me busy. I’m hoping to have a few Goats by next year…
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
— I’ve known about BYC for several months. I prolly found it through a google search one day. So, I’ve been reading threads for quite awhile, just browsing thru and reading responses to this and that, now that I’m in deep with my Chicken-keeping activities I thought I should make it all official and introduce myself. ~> Hi there Everyone!
