Okay, so we bought 4 Bovan Brown chicks at TSC. I don’t have a lot of faith in TSC correctly identifying their pullets. Three of the chicks are at least obviously the same breed. This one is about 3/4 the size of the others and colored differently. It has these little stripes on its back. Google image search didn’t come up with much. I’m wondering if it is a male Bovan Brown or if it might be a different breed altogether. Of course being the smallest it’s become my kids favorite and even my husband is spoiling it a bit as you can see by the box ☺️ In case anyone is worried about it getting cold the blue rag is wrapped around a warm water bottle and the chick has been happily curled up asleep for a while.

Cant help you with ID, but it is a beautiful lil chick.:love
I do have a question about how you are housing your 4 chicks, and their age in weeks. Do you have a heated brooder???
You don't have your location in your profile, so I have no idea, of temperatures, in your area, as well as affected temperatures inside your home.
The warm water bottle is fine, but it loses its heat in not that long of time period.
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :highfive:

I work at TSC. I can see how some stores will have mixed up chicks as the chicks come in and have to be quickly put in the chick bins. I have opened more than one box where somehow a chick from a separate compartment has gotten into another spot. My boss has very wisely made sure I am on the schedule every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday to make sure that I am there to receive and set up new deliveries. Not all stores have someone on staff that has much chicken knowledge, or is managed by someone that tries to hire people with specific skills.

Back to your chick, most of the Bovan Browns we’ve gotten in had the stripe pattern. Which is how I told the other employees to differentiate them from the RIR.(I did put them in separate bins, but made sure to make it clear in case the signs got knocked off.) I did notice that as they aged the stripe became less obvious. It’s possible the smaller chick is younger. Two weeks ago we got in about 200 BB pullets. The following week we got in another 100 or so. There were still about 15 of the older chicks left when the new batch came in. When people come in to buy chicks, I try to grab the older ones first but am not always successful 😂.
