Let me explain that "fun" with the pond meant:

Green swamp water
Fish fungi
a currently frozen mess that hopefully will be ok when it thaws
weeds galore frome landscaping gone wrong
fish that eat a $30 bag of pellets in 3 weeks

Yeah... we are "loving" it

It really WILL be gorgeous once we get a handle on it. We moved in this past July and the previous tenents hated it and ignored it so it was too far gone to easily fix this summer.

Chickens should be easier. The parrots we own are our "babies" and are less trouble than most people imagine. We just keep the cages clean, spend an hour or so of one-on-one time with them, give them lots of toys, cook up a batch of "treat" mix weekly, and wear earplugs on the days when they decide they just HAVE to have a good screamfest (infrequent... but it happens). I figure chickens should be pretty close to the same. Except the brooding period when we first get them. THAT could be interesting. I am about to:
1) be really glad I have an extra bathroom
2) have a great excuse to remodle said bathroom afterward
Right? LOL
