I know we still have a month of our rainy season left but it's feeling like spring here already... I tilled my garden a few days ago and set out my broccoli, onions and potatoes today... Worked up a sweat... the temp in my garden is 74degrees.

Just finished grilling some chicken breast and veggies, with a fresh salad out of the garden (Mesclun mix).
I worked from home today and had me the laptop and a fresh cup of coffee down below with the girls, logged into work.

If only i could work like this full time.

Well anyway just wanted to share this most excellent moment in my life with my byc friends. I don't know about the rest of the world but chickens are the best stress relief going...

Same here! Loving the warmer days. Since it has been so nice outside, I have spent a lot more time with the girls. They are back to sitting in my lap and flying up onto the back of the chair, just like last summer.

Now that everyone has finished molting, and gotten in their new feathers, they are looking quite beautiful and prosperous! I love watching them cruise the property, scratching up a storm, and looking for bugs!

don't tease please it is 0 here. No chance of me tilling my garden

why oh why doesn;t spring come sooner. But at least you guys have good weather but could you send it my way.

I started on the veggie garden this weekend, too! The horses got baths and haircuts yesterday, they were shod today, and then I took my mare out for a ride. It was beautiful today, was it not?
I fired the BBQ up a couple of weeks ago and cooked a steak but I have half a mind to do it again this weekend.

Atrocious property taxes or not, I love California.

I spent much time watching them dig through the compost heap i took the container off... They were so busy scratching and eating

you could almost hear them humming at how good the worms and bugs were

HenHaven how do you like CoarseGold? lots of property for sale there... 5 and 10 acre lots... just seems like it gets a bit warm in the summer. How did your girls handle the heat last summer?
I have been on a property hunt for 1.5 years now and the one place we wanted in Vacaville the owners wouldn't move on the price and now 7 months later the agent we were dealing with called and asked if we were still interested... get this the place is in forclosure and the bank will let us purchase it at a reduced price $800k down from $1.4m. All we need to do is come up with the arrears payments $14k and get a loan for the $800k... so it looks like we will be on our own little 12 acre hobby farm in a couple of months...

It really was a nice day today. No garden for me, the Muscovies stole that area. I'll have to find somewhere else. We walked at the park and it was really nice. We are going to the snow on Saturday, but I definitely enjoy this nice weather.

sorry to rub salt in open wounds but, yup, it is absolutely gorgeous all over cali!
it feels like spring for sure. i felt like a new woman walking around in the sunshine today!!!

Hello fellow Cali people!! Yes I too have the Spring Fever. The temps were perfect for gardening. My husband tilled the veggie garden area and put compost in and such. I then planted some red lettuce, a mesculine mix, swiss chard, tomato, broccoli. I know that I am jumping the gun so to speak as we could still get frost but I am hoping we don't!!
