Crowing
About 3 years ago now I lost nearly my whole flock to a fox. At that point I moved the flock into my back yard. One the dogs patrol it, and two anything that has been fuzzy dies to my one dog because she doesn't allow anything in the yard.
Things had been going well for quite some time. Other than the monstrous amount of mud we had to deal with. But this morning we go out to let the ducks out and find three dead ducks in the house.
It seems something found a dry rotted spot and had pulled two ducks into it and had eaten the heads and necks of the ducks. One completely down to the body. The third still had her head but was missing feathers on her neck. She was found all the way across the house though; it looks like she might have died of shock not the attack itself like the others.
So, what is the best way other than shooting these things (no guns) to try and deter these critters from coming back. I think I have narrowed it down to three possible suspects rat, opossum, and raccoon. My guess is there is a best method for each of them.
