I’m a first time chicken owner and we got our first egg ever from our California gray!! It’s definitely smaller and pointier than normal eggs but I know it will get better as she figures it all out. She laid in the nesting box right where she was supposed to too, those fake brown eggs clued her in!!! Eeeek!!! I’m SO excited!!!

Yes, some of my current laying hens layed a few days in a row and then took a break. It all depends on the individual hen. Congratulations, first eggs are the best!!!

Congratulations!!! It’s such an awesome thing to get your first egg!!! I was soooo excited! How many chickens do you have? I have 9. I went 3 days without any eggs after my first. Then 1 a day. Now we are getting anywhere from 5-8 eggs a day.

Congrats! She can lay daily for a while and then will likely take a day off. It takes like 25 hours for them to make those precious eggs.
