It is legal to own chickens in NC? Mount Holly/Charlotte area?

I've having health department or something come out to test my chickens, to see what is wrong with them, and I don't want something stupid happening, like them taking them away, because they are illegal....

anyone else in Charlotte, NC...(I'm actually in Mount Holly, NC) that owns chickens and know they are legal?

I'm pretty sure they area, I guess I should have checked before getting them...but I have 10 now, 2 are sick though

I use to live near you. It depends on WHERE you are in Mount Holly. You know....are you in the city limits? If you are you might have a problem! If your in the country but, not in a development you should be ok.

I think if you are near Huntersville you may not have a problem but the City of Charlotte may be another matter. I live in the country so no problem for me.
