It is too cold for the ducklings?

Make sure you secure with something else besides those clamps

Fire hazard, right? Half the ceiling is cut out (the other half remains for a "hay loft") and I have a couple exposed rafters. That is also what I use to hang their waterers (I figured out the hard way that it is much better to hang them, they will do anything they can to climb into the waterer. They are fat but can stretch out to fit into small spaces!).
Was going to attach a wire from the beam and secure it to that. Anything specific you can think of to make sure it is totally safe?

Thanks for all the advice. I'm glad my duckies didn't suffer due to my inexperience!

Excellent link. Although I have a couple no-no's in my setup as I am using heavy gauge extension cord to run power out there. I'm not sure what else to do though except to make sure that the plug ins are up in the rafters out of reach and the lamps are properly secured. There is also a bale of straw in there in the corner. Ignorance is bliss (until something bad happens...).

They seem really happy out there with the heat lamps. I still need to make some minor adjustments but I feel relief with this setup.
