I have a 4 year old Buff Orpington who has stopped laying (not a big surprise). Her comb is folded over and lighter in color. She is moving very slowly and seems all balled up when she walks through the yard. She's not one for being touched but just remains still as I reach for her now. She also has a lot of poo around her bum. I try not to stress my girls any more than needed so I didn't want to get all fiddly with cleaning her up if she just needed some time but I'm beginning to think something is really wrong. Is she just old?

Hi and welcome to BYC.
I am sorry to hear your girl isn't feeling so well.

When was the last time she laid an egg?
Can you feel her belly area...is it full and squishy or full and hard?

It's been a few weeks since she laid an egg. Her belly is full and squishy. She is eating and drinking but not with much energy, not scratching much but pecking at the ground a bit.

Yikes! She is squatting like a penguin but her poo isn't yolk colored. We cleaned her off good and took her to the coop. She's picking at some new hay and moving around a bit. I'll keep an eye on her and may have to take her to the vet. Unfortunately my vet know very little about chickens. Thank you so much. At least I have an idea about what it might be. :)
