It simply disappeared!

Missing: One Delaware chick, about four or five weeks old...

There are no traces of feathers or ANYTHING, so we are thinking hawk. We saw a hawk, a very young one, and Olympia chased it away. All the other chickens and chicks are very cautious. What do you think?

There is also a strange smell in the coop, like something rotting... did the chick perhaps get stuck somewhere and die?

I'd be tracking down that smell. Could be it got stuck behind something.

We've checked EVERYWHERE and can't find anything...

Can anything get into the coop? I ask because some of your predators carry a stink on them and possibly you are smelling a residual odor from a predator walking in and snatching your chicken?
