[Let me start off by saying I am so proud of my dog.]
After a nice steak dinner, I decided to give my dog, Sabina, the bone and made her go outside to eat it. All of a sudden my fat, food-obsessed hen came marching over to her and yanked the bone out of Sabina's mouth. She then proceeded to drag it over to her flockmates so they all could feast. Sabina just stared in complete disbelief, as did I.
I retrieved the bone from the hens, gave it back to the dog, and went inside. A few minutes later I hear the most pitiful whining, growling, and barking, fearing that she took revenge on the hen I ran back outside only to find that the hens had encircled my dog and proceeded taking turns distracting her, so the others could take a bite of the scraps.
She knows that I do not tolerate aggression and knows that the chickens are off limits - I could tell the complication in her mind, "should I snap at them?" In a moment of panic, she quickly made up her mind and high-tailed it, running that bone as far away from the hens as she could; the girls followed behind her with flapping wings....
It was hilarious and I wish I had my camera. My hens have to either be the bravest or most stupid chickens in the world. I just had to share this.
