Hey Karen!! Glad to hear you at least have some Blue Hens left! I am down to 4! In the spring I will be upping my numbers of Blue hens! You know where to get some if you want some!

Yeah, nobody got hurt last night, but I lost my 2 other ducks last week

They will be going in the chicken pen from now on at night. I will just have to corral them in and they are going to have to like it. They are always in our fenced backyard and no allowed out, but that doesn't stop something from coming in. We have to get some netting or fishing string up and they will be good to go.

Oh no only 4 - my guess hawks - they are sneaky ones
Is Caeser ok ? Tell the ducks it's for there own good !
Hopefully they will strat going in the pen like the chickens go into the coop after a while !
Hopefully Mr Owl stays away now .

Cesar is fine and we have his son Corky and I have 3 girls. I lost Blackie, she was egg bound and the other all disappeared into the bushes never to return! I think I will just order some eggs from Ranchhand, she has new blood down there! She came up from SC last spring and picked up the group I got from you.




I think the ones that venture off during the day ended up as hawk food, but the night time it is Mr.Owl!

You're right, this is a bad year for predators and it will probably only get worse this winter.

Buckwild- My sister io law was thinking Tera-dactyl


Southernbelle- I am guessing it will get worse. I locked everyone in tonight so hopefully everyone will be ok. I think now that the Owl knows where to come to eat, he will continue to return. He has had more than his share of duck this week!

out and moving.The hen was in my hay shed and I figured she would be safe.

Everyone here made it through the night. I did lock everyone up good..except my goose, she wouldn't go in and I couldn't catch her. But she has been here almost 5 years so lets hope she is just REALLY good at defending herself!

I'm thinking my predator is a raccoon.Because something keeps coming up on the porch at night and pulling a plastic drawer open and stealing bread -(chicken snacks he he)

I'm installing lights around the yard tonight and a radio.So hopefully I can deter the pest.I lock my girls up at night but the coop is made of almost all chicken wire,so If something wanted in he would get them.So far nothing has tried it.
