I've heard about these critters, but never seen one. It's funny that I came across this post right after watching a video clip of one of these gophers attacking and chasing a cat away. I thought when I saw it "Holy cow! Vicious little beasts aren't they?" Apparently they are indeed! I would have kicked the little bugger, too. Those teeth are terrifying.

Ours may not be the same species as yours but we have pocket gophers here in Florida as well. Very noticeable this time of year when the frost has killed the grass.

Having one charge across your yard into your house is extraordinary behavior! Around here you have to look hard to actually see one though they make their mounds everywhere.

I wouldn't care WHAT it is....I'd be worried about WHY it charged.

That behavior is tooooooo scary.
