Limu has been brooding since March 15th. Well, he has been on the nest since then, I am not really sure if he was brooding or just protecting the eggs at that time, but he has not left the nest that we know of. We have one hen and three cocks on ten acres and I would like to let him raise the chicks. We have a separate paddock we can chase him into with his chicks if any hatch. Is there any real danger of the other emu hurting the chicks if we left them together in the pasture? The hen, Mumu, may be laying again. We have seen some behavioral change with Oscar who has taken up laying in different spots in the pasture not wanting to get up when we check on him. Otherwise, he is very normal when he comes to the barn to eat. Oscar is very sweet laying his head on our chest as we stroke his neck. All of them tolerate us petting their necks and take treats from our hand. Limu hisses at us when we come close to his nest, so we haven't tried to move him to see how many eggs he has.
