Hey everyone! I’m 100% new to quail, this is the first batch I’ve hatched and the first bunch I’ve owned. I’ve read that certain colors are feather sexable which is awesome. I got 4 silver looking ones, and I know they can’t be, nor the tuxedo, the white, but I did wind up with 3 goldens and I think a pharaoh? It seems a little lighter than some of the other pics I’ve seen but the pattern seems correct; and it does have that little white bib so I don’t know if that makes a difference... anyways, they’re around the 3 week mark now and I was hoping to get some second opinions on these ones. :)

golden #3 (unknown, and not as well feathered as the others yet)

Thanks guys! The last one is feathering in with very light spots, so I’m assuming any spots on the chest would confirm female? It’s behaviour is definitely a lot more like the first little girl than the boys. The fellas are already exercising their vocal cords. Haha.

now I have questions on colors. I had 4 silver looking ones hatch, and they’re all feathering in differently. My 2 favorite are below, any idea what color they would be “officially”? :)

and one more I’m unsure on, my tuxedo. Is it a Rosetta? It has more barring than I’ve seen on pictures of the Tibetan.

thanks for your help! :D

The Tibetan / Rosetta is probably mixed lineage, mine are all like that too. Are the feet part black and part normal flesh tone?

Absolutly right, ... the responsible factor for the classicly called Brown Ranged is "extented brown", which is incomplete dominat, and causes wide variations of "Tibetan" in heterozygotous mixes.

A pure Brown Ranged would look like this:

This one’s legs are quite light in color, but I wasn’t sure if that’s because it’s underside is pretty much completely white. They’re a little darker than the others but not black. :)
I would be also curious about the two light ones, ... I have a similar.

No clue, if there is any name. I can only tell that father is a SSC Silver and mother a Roux-Dilute. Definately something diluted 😉
Beautiful! And very similar. :D mine came from a hatchery in Manitoba that has a huge mix of colors running together so definitely a mixed bag there. :p I love the variety though.
Shima looks like a wildtype-silver. I have one, they are beautiful!
That one is by far my favorite. Lol. I was wondering about it being wildtype, it’s got the pattern that the other silvery ones don’t. It’s also the first to come running when I go see them, and was the first to climb in my hand in the brooder. Lol. The down color/pattern was this:
