Itchy ear? head shaking?

WE recently got 10 chicks from two local breeders, 6 Auraconas and 4 Ameraconanas they are all about 3-5 days old. One of the Ameraconas has been scratching his (her?) ears and shaking its head. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with its ear that we can see. Any idea what's going on? Is it something the other chicks could catch?

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Chickens get itchy like we do. If you notice that he/she is doing it frequently and the itching is affecting behavior and feed/water intake, then you need to worry. If you are still worried, give the chick a good lookover for mites/lice or anything that may be irritating the area. Something comes to mind is loud noises. I've seen my chickens shake their heads if there is a sharp/loud noise that they don't like.
