My dog had surgery today and had a wart removed from his face and he is starting to scratch at it. Any way to prevent it, besides the cone of shame?

I recently had a cat that scratched the side of its face off. I had the same issues with her continuing to scratch after having her face sewn up a couple of times. Only had limited success with the cone. The vet said it was OK to use either anti-itch hydrocortizone cream, anti-itch diphenhydramine cream or anti-biotic with pain relief. It had some success reducing the scratching. He said the hydrocortizone would have the longest lasting relief; the pain relief the most numbing relief. Good luck
