Anyone have pics of black or blue swedish ducks with the correct sex on them? I got a few today but I'm convinced the woman didn't know which sex was which because my blue totally looks and acts female and the black all act "maleish". Everyone seems to be doing somewhat ok cept the keep chasing my one mallard!

Hey thanks! I'm having a heck of a time figuring my crew out here. I've got a super loud pekin (I can only assume it's a girl due to her mouth!), 2 mallards both still female colored at 13 weeks but I'm not sure when they change if they are going to, and now the black and blue crew! Ugh ducks are frustrating but oh so worth it!

I had a Buff x that looked like a pure bred mallard. It was a boy - I could see the green tinge on his head feathers and he had a squeaky voice. he sure was funny though

Thanks that does help alittle. Other than the drake feather is there any distinguishing features on the black swed male vs female?

Im not sure . Ive only ever hadblues before, this is my Maybe the blue green feathers? or I know alot of drakes can stand their head feathers up while females have trouble with it. Are they old enough that you can tell from the quacks? Females have a deep annoying quack that they like to trumpet around while the males have a higher pitched quack - they dont talk as much.

They are supposedly 3 months though they look older in my opinion. Yes they do quack a good bit but none compared to my pekin and all three of the blacks have quite a bit of green feathering on them. Do all blue drakes have the darker neck and head? Mine is all the greyish blue and she told me it was a drake. I think it's a female even though it is quiet.

Do you have any pictures? I hope someone with more Swedish experience comes along. If it is more of a cackling squack sort of , as if they need to announce everything, it is most likely girls. If it is more of a Wonk. Wonk. Wonk quack , its prolly a boy. Boys dont feel the need to announce everything like the girls do.
