I just bought a few chicks from a woman in my area and one of the ones I bought was supposed to be a Cuckoo Marans. When my husband brought him/her home, I didn't think it looked like a cuckoo but he was pretty and I didn't care too much. Now It's driving me crazy that I don't know if he's really a cuckoo or not! Pictures of baby marans are impossible to come by unless you're looking for copper blacks and cuckoos so I thought I'd ask the knowledgeable people here at BYC ^.^ I've got three decent shots of him (I keep saying him but I don't know the sex yet.) He's approximately a week old.
As you can see from the pics, he has very little white on him except for his belly, and all the pics of cuckoos I see they have a lot of white on them. I also thought their legs were supposed to be light, he has very dark legs and a dark beak. He has feathering on his legs too. His wings don't appear to have any white on them either. So, I'm lost! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
