It's not a good day ever to lose a sweet hen and today we are losing one so needlessly. At some point a wood screw was lost during the building of the coops and a Rhode Island Red pullet found it and ate it. After keeping her isolated for a few days her crop emptied to the point that the screw can be easily felt. This was always a fear of mine over dropped screws. No matter how much I tried to get them all picked up one got away and it is costing a life.
