Waking just before the sunrise, Acan set a kettle of water to boil as he got dressed. He put on simple thick leather trousers, and a rough tunic. Once the kettle started to boil, he made himself a cup of mint tea and made a simple porridge for breakfast. Once he finished, he went out into the garden to start rounds throughout the Queen's gardens. He grabbed 2 water buckets and proceeded to the well, trudging back and forth to water every rose, every pea, melons, daisies, onions, plants of all sizes and shapes. There was an orchard as well, in the corner of the courtyard, everything tucked neatly in its place within the walls so as not to be visible from outside.

Lillia found the book her mother had always read about magic, and eagerly sat down in one of the chairs to read it. But while it gave extremely detailed instructions on how to use the magic and what it did, there were also drawings depicting what would happen if you messed up.
And this made the whole thing seem less appealing to Lillia, but of course she still had to learn. Her mother used magic all the time, and she never accidentally killed herself doing it.

Xylo finished his walk and went to the library. He grabbed a book that seemed appealing to him, then sat down next to Lillia. He kissed her before he started reading.

Acan finished watering everything that wasn't already irrigated, then prepared nosegays for the queen and her sister for their rooms. He selected favorite flowers for each of them, with a silken ribbon for both bundles. He carried them in a rough basket to their quarters, knocking gently on the door. His hulking frame made the door seem almost small. It was his greatest delight to see them light up with the morning delivery, before brunch.
