its almost time for my Red Broilers - next week!

i've been giving them 20% broiler feed - medicated. should i finish them this last week on crushed corn and raw goat's milk (we milk 2 dairy gals twice a day)?? at this point will it make any difference to get as much as the 'medicated' stuff out of their systems as possible?

these Red Bro's are pretty good - only 1 had the leg problems and most of them are pretty active. the roosters are as big as or bigger than my mature egg layers...and we just passed the 8 week mark.. so its BBQ chicken dinner next week.

:)

I'm pretty sure that when feeding Medicated feed you have to replace the feed a few days before butchering to allow all of the meds to get out of the meat.. I didn't want to have to deal with that so I just started mine unmedicated and haven't had any problems. As for the corn and milk..? I haven't ever heard of that. You could go to your local feed store and get some unmedicated feed for their last few days. But thats up to you. Good luck!

The milk will be good for them, I'd mix it with their mash. The higher the protien in their diet, the leaner the meat. Corn = fat. I'd add goat milk to the unmedicated mash. If you can't find unmedicated mash, I'd put them on a chick starter or game bird feed, get some soybean meal and add that to the mash for added protien.

Just my 2 cents, you can put that in your pocket and do whatever you would like with it.
