As some of you know my DH George is a Army recruiting station comander. Which is about the evilest job in the army. Sure the people like soldiers, but not the "evil" recruiters who just do their job. They are barely recognized as soldiers. Anways now I am done rambling.

We live out in the civilian world. Every year all recruiters, soldiers of a recruiting battalion meet to a annual training conference(ATC) which contains of all day training for the soldiers on friday and a party at night, saturday is trining again(seperate spousal training for family members) and on saturday night we have a big formal. Which i am partial of right now. It is 35$ a plate , which is not too bad, but i have to but a darn evening gown.

Me, the one who wears jeans, birkies and a old shirt in a gown and my hair done too??? Oh my. The last two ATC's we went to had luau's and were in Florida. I dont like stinkin dressing up and shake hands with the big brass up there. And what i even hate more i driving with three kids from Youngstown Ohio to Columbus in mid december. But i love that they have free day care for the ball the spouse training . Guess i am looking on ebay for a size 10 dress.
I will post a pic once i wear the darn dress.

Fancy dresses?

I'm a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl myself. My DH had to attend an awards banquet this past Feb. He "forgot" to tell me about it until ONE WEEK before said banquet.

Thank goodness I was able to borrow a dress last minute. I hated every minute of it. I feel your pain.

Oh, I feel your pain, too! I am not a dress up kind of girl! I wasn't even going to wear a dress for my wedding originally, until my sister talked me into it! Well, actually she told me that I absolutely was NOT getting married in jeans! lol.
Good luck on your dress search! I'm sure you'll find something that will look great on you!

We just had our unit's Marine Corps Birthday Ball last Saturday so I know what you mean about dressing up! I was excited though because this was the first one I attended in 5 years or so and I have lost 30 lbs. I found my dress at a local consignment shop for a fantastic price! It was homecoming season so all formals were 20% off. I would suggest trying a place like that, you could save alot of money and you could always put it back on consignment and resell it to recoup some of the money. We had our picture taken and they will be done early December so I plan on posting a pic, but it is just a gorgeous dress for way less the cost of new. I had my hair done and I hated it. Cost me $40 because I have long hair and next time I will just do it myself and I know I will like it better. I bought those glue on nails at walmart for $6 and when I messed up and there were air bubbles, I just bought nail stickers to put on! I certainly don't go to all that trouble every day. I am a t-shirt and jeans or pajama pants girl, so it was fun for a night! Hope you have fun and good luck finding a dress!

Oh, I totally get the whole recruiting thing. It is the most hated job in the Marines. We have been lucky the past 12 years in not getting selected for that duty and they may catch us this next time. Is it only for 3 years for you guys?

I had my hair done once and refuse to ever have it done again. I didn't even have my hair done for my wedding.

My husband and I were supposed to go to a National Guard banquet thingy last month...formal wear, the whole bit. Luckily, we were out of the state the day of the banquet!

I grew up a COs child, I turned into a COs hostess, then hosted for retired officers. I got so sick of playing dress up I never do it anymore except for specific parties and such. I don't have to worry about dressing up for the Teacher of the Banquet this year, it was cancelled due to finances.
