OMG...I was just adding water to my hatcher and I heard a funny squeak, thought maybe the fan bearing was going bad. I have 2 trays of quail eggs that are on day 16 so I did not even think to look for a chick...this is my first go round with quail. Closed the hatcher door but could still hear something weird. Looked at the top tray and I have a hatched out quail! I am so excited. Took a picture with my cell phone and sent to my hubby at work...we has been waiting for the "popcorn" event...LOL

Do they need to stay in the hatcher 24-48 hours like chickens or can I move it into the brooder whenever I want? I pretty much have everything else covered I think.

No longer than 24 hours in the bator, 12 is better

They need to eat sooner than chickens do.

Well, when I left for work, there were several pipped. I will let you know if any hatched at 7:30 when I get home from work. Mine always hatch early. I guess my incubators run a little hot.
