This is finally done and I am ready to add chicks today. They are over 2 weeks old. Getting into that awkward t Rex stage. They want to fly and use those wing they want to roost!! Even though it's going to be chilly the next few nights these girls are ready I think. I have deep litter, a small heater and the heat lamp. These girls are going to the coop tonight..

I ordered my chicks before all this covid mess started. I LOVE my girls. I love the thought of chicks in my backyard. I am no a first time owner, I raised them for years but then we moved to an area, where we could not have them. My daughter wanted them because she wants to raise them for

eggs for her family but she also was in panic mode about all this pandemic mess. They aren't pets to her... Just food producers. She basically talked me into going in with her to get them. I live on her homestead, in my own home and being a chicken mom for years I loved the thought of having them again. She would be one who panic bought and I can not imagine what condition they would be in if I were not here. She has no time for them with raising 3 kids and trying to help her husband with dispatch because he is a trucker. She also runs a website so she has no time.... And I knew that it would happen like this. I am not complaining, I am happy I have them and even if she never helps it wo t matter to me or the girls... I am a grateful chicken momma. Happy Mother's Day to me🌼🌻🌺!!!

Just an update, the tarp is now on the run and the chicks are now in the coop!! They are loving life right now. I will be checking on them a few times this evening to keep an eye on the temps.. fingers crossed it will stay up for them...

Nice size coop and run...but I see very little ventilation in the coop?

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

Well if you look closely.... There is a big drop down window in the door, there are drop down windows on each side with screens , there are vent holes completely across the front and back eaves with screen and there is a fully opening 3 x2 window that swings open in the back plus the pop door. I think that's quite a bit of ventilation for the girls..

Couldn't tell if eaves were open or not.
That's good!
Not seeing any windows?

What's your climate?
As I said in my last reply to your question.....There are 2 windows.... One in back 3 x 2 fully operational and one in the door, a drop down plus 2 windows on the sides. Eavs are NOT open. They have vent holes with screen all the way across.
