IT'S HAPPENING!! Butterball's first hatch

Butterball's eggs are hatching!! It's late so hopefully they will keep it up tonight. I put food and water out for them but there's no way I am going to be able to sleep

Congratulations!

I'd leave them be with Mama and let them do their thing. If this is her first time, too much activity could upset her.
See how it turns out in the morning.

I think 4/9 have hatched so far. At least I hear peeps toward her back end and there are five unhatched (two started) toward the front. I don't know if the big girls can hear the little peeps but they sure are noisy this morning.

Looks like only three babies so far. She finally let them out to explore.

Well...two of the eggs pipped but one got shrink wrapped and one didn't progress. By the time I got brave enough to steal them out from under mama they were dead. Lesson learned. She then got off the remaining eggs so I moved her and the babies to the roadside coop and put the four remaining eggs under Duchess who has gone broody the past couple days. They're probably no good but this way they have a chance if they are and Duchess gets her wish too.
