This is my first time incubating chicks. Today is 21st day and I have one chick breaking out! So exciting! But the humidity is dropping to 45%. Can I open and add water if chick is already coming out? Concerned about the others.

Does your incubator have holes near the bottom. If so you can add water from one of the holes in the incubator and use your funnel or something else to put water in

Unfortunately it does not have hole to add, I have to open the lid to add water. But it appears like there is enough water in it. Not sure why humidity is dropping.

I did fill the water chambers before lockdown. So not sure why humidity is dropping. I can see drops of water on front of the incubator. Hmmm...

I had to open the incubator to add water for lockdown too, I just did it so fast like half a second I just threw some water in (making sure not to get it on the eggs of course) and they all hatched fine, I don’t know what your incubator looks like though.

I also placed the incubator in the styrfoam covering. Temp is stable but humidity is below 50%. Maybe my humidity probe isn't working correctly? I can see moisture drops on the cover.

Just did a little more research on the external thermometer humidity unit I bought and found out others having issues with it accurately displaying correct humidity levels. So hopefully that is all it is. Next time need to make sure to read reviews before purchasing!
